Impeccable representation - Client well-being

Kiyomi and Justin maintain a small, purposeful, law practice focused on criminal defense.  Our philosophy is rooted in focusing on the details in order to maintain exceptional service.

Our core principles are simple yet essential: provide clients with impeccable legal representation and a sense of relief, comfort, and well-being

Kiyomi Bolick

Kiyomi was raised in Utah earning a bachelor’s in Social Work and then headed east for law school graduating from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 2010. For over a decade, Kiyomi has built a solid reputation in the legal field, specializing in criminal defense, complex litigation, and a commitment to justice.

For 13 years, she honed her legal skills as a public defender, successfully representing clients across a wide spectrum of cases, from minor infractions to the most serious of criminal charges. Kiyomi has represented clients in 17 different counties across Colorado but now focuses primarily on representing clients in the Yampa Valley and Northwest Colorado.

Kiyomi has also worked with the International Legal Foundation, helping build strong public defender systems abroad, focusing on trial skills and the use for forensic evidence in criminal defense.

Outside the courtroom, you are likely to find Kiyomi on the ski slopes or at the Routt County Humane Society volunteering to help our four-legged friends in need.

Justin Bawden

Justin grew up in a small ranching community in central Montana, earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology/Criminology from U of M, and graduated Cum Laude from The Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing Michigan.

A search for a prominent public defender system and his love for the mountains returned Justin to the west and introduced him to Colorado.  Justin defended clients in the Colorado Springs Public Defenders Office for nearly five years before transferring to the Arapahoe County Office in Denver.

A long-dormant passion for teaching led Justin to a year teaching high school at Colorado High School Charter in Denver, an alternative school dedicated to serving students marginalized by traditional education.

Justin moved to Steamboat Springs and opened a small practice that would allow him to utilize the tools, knowledge, and perspective he gained as a public defender and teacher to offer unique legal representation to northwest Colorado.

Justin now splits his time between practicing law and working in his local community as a part-time EMT and Firefighter.
